Honey Singh took to Instagram Live on Thursday to share his thoughts on the much-awaited film ‘Ramayana‘, praising actor Yash‘s portrayal of Ravana and expressing hope that the film stays true to the epic he grew up watching. He also said that, in his opinion, he liked Yash’s look as Ravana more than Ranbir Kapoor’s portrayal of Lord Ram.
Honey Singh lauds Yash’s look as Ravana
During the Instagram Live session, Honey Singh revealed that he had already watched the film’s teaser and was impressed by Yash’s screen presence, despite describing himself as a devoted follower of Lord Ram.He said, “Yash bhai hai Bengaluru se hamare. Ravana bane hain. Sach kahun doston, maine ‘Ramayana’ ka teaser dekha hai. Main Shri Ram ka bahut bada bhakt hoon. Mera Ravana se koi lena-dena nahi hai. But Yash bhai kya lag rahe hain. Mere opinion mein Ranbir bhai se zyada achhe mujhe (Yash is our brother from Bengaluru, and he’s playing Ravana. To be honest, friends, I’ve seen the teaser of Ramayana. I’m a huge devotee of Lord Ram, so I have nothing to do with Ravana. But Yash bhai looks absolutely amazing. In my opinion, I think he looks even better than Ranbir bhai).”
Honey Singh recalls childhood Ramleela memories
The 43-year-old singer also spoke emotionally about his personal connection with the ‘Ramayana’, recalling the Ramlila performances he watched while growing up in Delhi and Karampura.He expressed hope that the filmmakers remain faithful to the essence of the epic and do not alter its core emotions. He said, “I hope ki movie bahut achhi ho. Kisi ke sentiments ko hurt na kare. Jaisi hum bachpan se Ramayana dekhte aaye hain, jo hum Delhi mein aur Karampura mein Ramleela dekhte aaye hain, jitni pure thi hamare liye, waisi hi rahe. Koi ched-chhad na ho. Kyunki emotions hain bachpan ke.”
About ‘Ramayana’
Honey Singh’s comments came shortly after the makers of ‘Ramayana’ announced the film’s release date. Produced by Namit Malhotra, the first instalment is set to hit theatres on November 6, 2026, two days ahead of Diwali. The second part is expected to release around Diwali 2027, although its exact release date has not yet been announced.
