While the royal couple’s neighbours in Montecito, California, were surprised to hear the news of the shift, they are welcoming the sudden decision. Page Six recently reported that while some neighbours are surprised by the move, most share the same sentiment of relief. A statement from the report read, “The town is exhausted by them, the entitlement, and the never-ending drama.” In contrast, another comment read, “When we first heard Harry and Meghan were moving to Montecito, there were definitely some concerns. There had already been so much negative press and attention surrounding them and the royal family, and I think people are worried about what kind of spotlight that could bring to such a quiet community.”The report also noted that the area where the Duke and Duchess of Sussex reside is a quaint space; however, because of their status, it often attracts unwanted attention, which many neighbours look forward to getting rid of. Another statement from the report read, “Montecito is a very private, peaceful place, and I think a lot of people here will be happy to see things go back to being a little quieter.”

About Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s move to the UK

According to reports shared online by PEOPLE, the royal couple plans to make the shift by the end of August, while their children will resume school in the UK itself next month. It was also shared that despite the move coming amid Prince Harry wanting to rekindle ties with the royal family and make amends, the couple will not be given royal status. They will be considered private and working individuals once they move back to the UK. Markle and the Prince are also planning to live on a private, non-royal property as they move back. The last time the couple resided in the UK, they stayed at Frogmore Cottage, which the late Queen Elizabeth gifted to them for their wedding. However, in 2023, King Charles asked them to vacate the property completely after Prince Harry released his tell-all memoir, ‘Spare.’ The outlet also reported that despite the move, they will be keeping their luxurious USD 14.5 million Santa Barbara estate. The property includes nine bedrooms, 16 bathrooms, a lot of greenery, a tennis court, a rose garden, a tea house, a private pool, and a children’s playhouse. The news comes after Prince Harry took his entire family to the UK to attend the Invictus Games event. They also met with King Charles and Queen Camilla in a private meeting, where the monarch met with his grandchildren for the first time in four years. The family of four also visited Princess Diana’s ancestral home and her final place of rest to pay their respects.
