Karan Johar posted the film’s punchy trailer on his Instagram Stories, pairing it with an enthusiastic note about how well the film blends its familiar faces with newer additions to the cast. He wrote, “Mirzapur is a solid, Kadak, masaledar ride! I love the series and I thoroughly enjoyed the film!!!! All the epic characters shine and make way for the new ones with aplomb! Even if you haven’t seen the series, you will love the film!!!”
From streaming hit to big-screen outing
Originally a breakout success on an OTT platform, the ‘Mirzapur’ universe has now stepped into cinemas with backing from Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s production house. The narrative continues to centre on the power tussle between Pankaj Tripathi‘s Kaleen Bhaiya and Ali Fazal‘s Guddu Pandit, keeping intact the show’s trademark mix of sharp rivalries, unpredictable twists, and rough-edged drama. The film is helmed by Gurmeet Singh, penned by Puneet Krishna, and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, with Kassim Jagmagia and Vishal Ramchandani.
New faces join the cast of ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’
The film brings notable changes to its lineup, with Jitendra Kumar stepping into Bablu Pandit’s shoes, a role earlier essayed by Vikrant Massey. Ravi Kishan also enters the fold as a new addition to the ensemble.

Alongside the newcomers, the series’ familiar cast returns to reprise their parts, including Abhishek Banerjee, Rasika Dugal, Sheeba Chadha, Rajesh Tailang, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Harshita Shekhar Gaur, and Shweta Tripathi, joining lead stars Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, and Divyenndu to bring the world of ‘Mirzapur’ to the big screen.It was released in theatres on September 4, 2026.
