Bhuvneshwar Kumar added his name to the record books during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s match against Chennai Super Kings, becoming only the second bowler and the first fast bowler to reach 200 wickets in the history of the Indian Premier League. He got to the mark by dismissing Ayush Mhatre during the IPL 2026 game on Sunday.Bhuvneshwar, who is the second-highest wicket-taker in the league, has now joined Yuzvendra Chahal in the 200-wicket club. He now has 202 wickets in 192 matches at an average of 27.25. Chahal remains ahead with 224 wickets in 176 matches at an average of 22.68. Sunil Narine is third on the list with 193 wickets in 191 matches.

The milestone wicket came when Bhuvneshwar dismissed Mhatre during the RCB vs CSK match. He bowled a hard-length delivery outside off stump which rose and cramped the batter on the pull shot. Mhatre mistimed the ball and it went up towards mid-off, where Rajat Patidar completed the catch.In the same match, RCB put up a total of 250 for 3 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The innings began with contributions from Virat Kohli, who scored 28 off 18 balls, and Phil Salt, who made 46 off 30 balls.The scoring was then taken forward by Devdutt Padikkal (50 off 29 balls), captain Patidar (48 not out off 19 balls), and Tim David, who made 70 not out off 25 balls.RCB picked up pace through the middle and final overs. Padikkal and Patidar added runs before Patidar and David put together an unbroken 99-run partnership in 35 balls. David’s hitting at the end, including eight sixes, helped RCB reach 250 in 20 overs. The team hit a total of 19 sixes in the innings.
