'Dhurandhar 2' makes Rs 18 crore already in advance bookings for Day 1, may beat record of Pawan Kalyan's 'OG' of Rs 25 crore from paid preview

‘Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge’ is one of the most anticipated films of the year. The excitement is further high ever since the trailer of the film has released on March 7. Capitalising on the buzz, the makers simultaneously opened advance bookings for the film’s paid previews on Wednesday, March 18, giving fans the opportunity to secure tickets well in advance and boast about catching the film a day before its worldwide theatrical release on Thursday, March 19.Earlier, the Ranveer Singh starrer was supposed to clash with Yash’s ‘Toxic’. However, the latter has now been pushed to June 4.

Dhurandhar 2 Dominates US Advance Sales, Leaves Toxic Far Behind

The early response has been overwhelming. On Sunday alone, the film sold another 80,000 tickets for its paid previews, adding roughly Rs 8 crore to its domestic box office tally even with 11 days still left before release. The momentum had already begun on Saturday when advance bookings went live at 11 am alongside the trailer launch. Within the first 24 hours, the film had sold 1.2 lakh tickets and generated over Rs 10 crore.According to Sacnilk, the total advance booking collection for ‘Dhurandhar 2’ has now reached Rs 18.11 crore. Of this, nearly Rs 6 crore comes from block bookings. Excluding those, the film has earned Rs 12.30 crore through the sale of 2,06,367 tickets. The Hindi version dominates the sales, contributing around Rs 12 crore from 1,94,514 tickets. Meanwhile, the Dolby Cine version has earned Rs 64,050 from 80 tickets.Among the dubbed versions, the Tamil version currently leads with Rs 9.9 lakh from 7,317 tickets. It has edged past the Telugu version, which initially had a larger share on Saturday but saw only marginal growth by Sunday, finishing at Rs 9.6 lakh from 3,920 tickets. In the Telugu market, the film will face strong competition from filmmaker Harish Shankar’s action thriller Ustaad Bhagat Singh, starring Pawan Kalyan, which is also scheduled to release on March 19 during the festive period of Eid, Ugadi, and Gudi Padwa. The Malayalam-dubbed version has so far collected Rs 96,114 from 338 tickets, while the Kannada version accounts for the smallest share with Rs 67,150 from 198 tickets. In the Kannada market, however, the film has benefited from the absence of a major clash after Geethu Mohandas’ action thriller Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grownups, starring Yash, was postponed due to the ongoing Gulf War. The delay of that highly anticipated release has allowed Dhurandhar 2 to gain additional breathing room in the region, particularly since Toxic has a strong following in Middle Eastern territories. With 10 days still remaining before its paid previews, ‘Dhurandhar 2’ has already set a new record for the biggest Bollywood premiere advance ever. It has surpassed the previous benchmark held by Amar Kaushik’s 2024 horror comedy ‘Stree 2’, starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, which had earned Rs 8.50 crore gross (around Rs 10 crore net) from advance sales for its paid previews. ‘Dhurandhar 2’ crossed that milestone comfortably within the first 24 hours of opening its bookings.Given the current pace, trade analysts expect the numbers to grow significantly in the coming days as the release date approaches and the buzz intensifies. The film could see an even bigger jump once advance bookings for the opening weekend begin. Even at its current Rs 18 crore figure, the film’s advance sales already exceed the lifetime domestic box office earnings of several Hindi releases this year.
