Actor Imran Khan, best known for films like ‘Jaane Tu..Ya Jaane Na’, ‘Delhi Belly’, ‘Break Ke Baad’ among others, recently participated in a protest at Mumbai’s August Kranti Maidan demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The actor, who is Aamir Khan’s nephew, was briefly detained by the police during the demonstration. Mumbai Police has now issued a ‘Leave India Notice’ directing him to leave the country by October 28.According to Mumbai Police, the notice was issued under the relevant provisions of the Immigration Act, citing Imran’s status as a non-Indian citizen. The police said action was taken because he participated in the protest despite not being an Indian citizen.Following his detention, Imran also took to social media to share a picture of himself sitting inside a police van, drawing attention to his presence at the demonstration. The protest came amid a wider political backdrop, with the dates coinciding with the proposed demonstration by CJP at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on October 10. However, the planned protest in the national capital was largely curtailed following a crackdown by the Centre.See More: Imran Khan to move to High Court to challenge the notice to leave India by October 28 for participating in CJP protests despite not being an Indian citizenThe measures included the deployment of 35,000 security personnel, suspension of internet services and disruption of metro services in parts of New Delhi.
