NEW DELHI: Abhishek Sharma produced a stunning batting display in the third and final T20I against Afghanistan at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Thursday.The left-handed batter smashed 108 off just 34 balls and broke several records during his explosive knock.

Fastest T20I century by an Indian

Abhishek smashed his century off just 30 balls to break the record for the fastest T20I century by an Indian.The record was earlier held by former India captain Rohit Sharma, who had scored a 35-ball century against Sri Lanka in Indore in 2017.Abhishek also became the fastest batter from a Full Member nation to score a T20I century. Sikandar Raza and Finn Allen jointly held the previous record, having both reached their hundreds in 33 balls.

Fastest century against a Full Member team

Abhishek also broke the record for the fastest T20I century against a Full Member team.The previous record was held by Finn Allen, who had scored a 33-ball century against South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2026 semi-final.Abhishek reached his hundred in 30 balls against Afghanistan.

Abhishek also created a new record for the most runs by a batter in the first six overs of a men’s T20I. He smashed 76 runs off just 22 balls during the powerplay.He broke the previous record held by Portugal’s Kuldeep Gholiya, who had scored 74 off 25 balls against Malta in 2023.

Abhishek also extended his record for the most T20I fifties scored in 20 balls or fewer. He brought up his fifty off just 16 balls against Afghanistan.It was the sixth time he had reached a T20I fifty in 20 balls or fewer.

Equals Virat Kohli’s T20 century record

The century was Abhishek’s 10th in T20 cricket.With this, he equalled India great Virat Kohli’s tally of 10 T20 centuries.Abhishek now needs one more century to become India’s most prolific century-maker in the shortest format.

Equals his own sixes record

Abhishek smashed 11 sixes during his 108-run knock. His sixes tally for the series reached 22, taking him level with his own record for the most sixes by an Indian batter in a T20I series. He had also hit 22 sixes during India’s T20I series against England in 2025.Abhishek was eventually dismissed for 108 off 34 balls after producing one of the most explosive innings of his T20I career.
