Director Chettan has opened up about the message behind his upcoming film The India Story, saying the project aims to encourage audiences to think more carefully about the food they consume every day. According to the filmmaker, the story addresses an issue that directly affects families across the country and hopes to spark meaningful conversations. Chettan shared his thoughts while promoting the film in Mumbai alongside actress Kajal Aggarwal. He explained that the film is intended to create awareness while presenting an engaging narrative rooted in a socially relevant subject.
Chettan explains the film’s core message
Speaking to IANS about the inspiration behind the project, Chettan stressed that food safety is a matter that concerns every household. He said the film explores why people need to be more aware of what reaches their dining tables. He said, “We work hard to put the food on our plates. If there is poison in your plate, then your hard work is in vain, and it puts your children, and everyone close to them on a serious risk. So, in this film, everything has been told, what is important, what is there and what should be done. This film is for every family. It’s for every Indian.” The director suggested that the film goes beyond entertainment by encouraging viewers to reflect on an issue that has widespread implications.
Director says film will leave audiences thinking
Chettan also shared what he hopes audiences will take away after watching the film. According to him, the story presents the seriousness of food-related issues while also offering possible solutions. He added, “So, after watching this film, you have to pay attention to everything, you won’t be able to sleep thinking about the gravity of the situation in society when it comes to our food. You will be shocked. But, the film also tells you how you can ensure safety”. The filmmaker believes the narrative will inspire viewers to become more conscious of food quality and the choices they make in their everyday lives.
Kajal Aggarwal and Shreyas Talpade lead the film
The India Story stars Shreyas Talpade in the lead alongside Kajal Aggarwal, who plays Advocate Archana. Her character joins forces with an ordinary citizen in a legal fight against influential corporate entities accused of endangering public health. Blending courtroom drama with an investigative storyline, the film examines issues such as pesticide misuse, food adulteration and their wider impact on society.‘The India Story’ is gearing up for its theatrical release on July 24, 2026.
