'Udta Teer' box office collection day 4: Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan’s film dips sharply on Monday, total reaches Rs 22.26 crore

Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan’s spy comedy ‘Udta Teer’ opened its theatrical run with a decent weekend, but the momentum dipped on Monday, October 26. After a quiet start on Friday, the film picked up speed on Saturday and Sunday, giving its makers reason to feel optimistic. The real test now is the weekdays: with several other new releases vying for the same audience, ‘Udta Teer’ needs to hold its ground to sustain its box office run.

‘Udta Teer’ box office collection: Rs 2.71 crore on first Monday

According to Sacnilk, ‘Udta Teer’ brought in an estimated Rs 2.71 crore net across India on its first Monday, a steep 67% drop from the previous day. The film is running in 5,583 shows nationwide, and its overall India net collection now stands at Rs 22.26 crore.

‘Udta Teer’ day-wise collection from Friday to Sunday

Starting on Friday, October 23, ‘Udta Teer’ earned Rs 4.10 crore on day one. Saturday saw a healthy bump to Rs 7.25 crore, roughly 76% higher than the opening figure, and Sunday pushed the total for the day even further to Rs 8.20 crore.

‘Udta Teer’ opening falls short of Ayushmann’s biggest openers

Though ‘Udta Teer’ built momentum over its first weekend, its opening-day figure fell well short of Khurrana’s best debuts. His biggest first-day hauls have typically come from films backed by a franchise, a recognisable comic persona or strong pre-release buzz. Topping his list is ‘Thamma’ with Rs 24 crore, followed by ‘Dream Girl 2’ at Rs 9.75 crore, ‘Dream Girl’ at Rs 9.50 crore, ‘Bala’ at Rs 9.25 crore and ‘Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan’ at Rs 8.75 crore.

‘Udta Teer’ plot, director and cast

‘Udta Teer’ marks the directorial debut of Akash A Kaushik, who earlier worked as a writer on ‘Housefull 4’, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ and ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’. Ayushmann plays a Pakistani spy who loses his memory in a blast and wakes up convinced he is an officer with India’s Counter-Terrorism Squad. Pulled into a cross-border espionage mission, he stumbles through one chaotic situation after another, with his mistaken identity fuelling most of the humour. The film is produced by Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment, and features Sara Ali Khan opposite Khurrana. Rahul Bose, Ram Kapoor, Suhail Nayyar, Gulshan Grover, the late Mukul Dev, Raghubir Yadav, Brijendra Kala, Supriya Pilgaonkar and Sandeep Anand round out the supporting cast.DISCLAIMER: The box office numbers and the data in this article are compiled from public and industry sources.
