Actor and content creator Sahiba Bali has appealed to the media to move away from speculation surrounding her personal life and instead focus on the Indian diaspora’s protest in London supporting the Cockroach Janata Party’s (CJP) movement in India. Sharing a photograph from outside the High Commission of India in London, Sahiba highlighted the demonstration held in solidarity with protesters demanding accountability and sweeping reforms in India’s education system following the alleged irregularities in the NEET examination.
Sahiba’s message to the media
Taking to social media, Sahiba made it clear that discussions around her personal life should not overshadow issues she believes deserve national attention. She wrote, “Dear media stop speculating my dating life/ friendships in London – it’s not national news. But dikhana hai toh yeh dekhao na (But if you want to show something, show this instead) (sic).”The image she shared showed members of the Indian diaspora gathering outside the High Commission of India in London to express solidarity with demonstrators protesting across India.
Indian diaspora extends support
The London protest echoed the demands being raised by the CJP, with demonstrators calling for greater accountability and urgent reforms in the country’s education system. The movement in India has continued at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar since June 6, where protesters have been demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged NEET examination irregularities.Educationist and activist Sonam Wangchuk, who had been leading the agitation through an indefinite hunger strike, was later detained and shifted to Safdarjung Hospital.
Creator’s video reinforces the message
Another content creator who attended the London demonstration also shared a video from the protest site, urging greater attention to the movement. The post read, “Today, we stood outside the High Commission of India in London in solidarity with the nationwide protests demanding accountability and urgent reforms in India’s education system (sic).”It further stated, “Students deserve better. People across India and Indians living abroad are demanding transparent leadership and responsibility from those entrusted with the nation’s education. Those who fail to deliver meaningful reforms must be held accountable, and if they are unable to fulfil their responsibilities, they should make way for capable leadership. India deserves an education system that is equitable, accessible, and focused on the future of its students (sic).“
