Kit Harington hints at Jon Snow series revival; says ‘Game Of Thrones’ spin-off ‘could be picked up again’ |
The cancelled Jon Snow spin-off may not be dead just yet! Actor Kit Harington has given fans enough reason to believe that the proposed sequel series set in the world of ‘Game of Thrones‘ could still return if the creative team finds the right story to tell.Speaking during a panel at Motor City Comic Con, Harington admitted that attempts were made to develop the spin-off show, but the creative team ultimately decided to pause the series.“It’s open knowledge that we tried to make a Jon Snow show for a little while, and just couldn’t. My main thing is not wanting to go there and do an injustice by the character,” Harington said, according to ScreenRant.Reflecting on his character’s ark in ‘Game of Thrones’, the actor shared, “I think he ended well. I think that he went where he was meant to. So if you pick him up again, it needs to be for the right reasons.”Explaining the reason behind dropping the initial series, the actor explained that the team struggled to find a compelling enough story to move forward. “We couldn’t find the right thing. So we put it down. For the moment. Maybe there’ll be a time… you know, he’s not dead, and that’s the amazing thing, is that he could be picked up again,” Harington said to the portal. The update comes over two years after the project was shelved in 2024. The original fantasy drama, inspired by the works of George R. R. Martin, concluded in 2019.Despite mixed reactions to its ending, HBO has continued expanding the Westeros franchise through spin-offs such as ‘House of the Dragon’ and ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’. The team has also announced live-action shows in development which include ‘Aegon’s Conquest’ and ‘10,000 Ships’.Animated shows in development also include ‘The Sea Snake (Nine Voyages)’.
