According to an update shared by industry tracker Sreedhar Pillai, ‘Mookuthi Amman 2’ is expected to arrive in cinemas during the Diwali 2026 festive period. However, an official release date announcement from the makers is still awaited.If the report materialises, the Nayanthara starrer could be among the major Tamil releases lined up for the Diwali 2026 weekend.
About ‘Mookuthi Amman 2’
‘Mookuthi Amman 2’ is the sequel to the 2020 Tamil comedy-drama ‘Mookuthi Amman’, which was directed by RJ Balaji and NJ Saravanan. Nayanthara played the titular divine figure in the film, which blended comedy, satire and social commentary.The first film followed Engels, a reporter who lived with his family. His life took an unexpected turn when Mookuthi Amman, the divine figure associated with his ancestral temple, appeared at his home. She fulfilled his wishes while also helping expose fraudulent spiritual practices through satire.Alongside Nayanthara and RJ Balaji, the film featured Urvashi, Smruthi Venkat, Madhu Mailankody, Abinaya, Moulee, Ajay Ghosh and others in key roles.Unlike the upcoming sequel, ‘Mookuthi Amman’ was released directly on OTT in 2020.
