Nancy Cartwright, the voice behind Bart Simpson from ‘The Simpsons,’ has revealed the most ridiculous place she’s been asked to do the “Bart voice.” Cartwright, 68, explained she was once on a flight to London when a flight attendant recognized her and asked her to do the impression in the cockpit. During an episode of her podcast, ‘Simpsons Declassified,’ Joe Mantegna, who voiced the Simpsons’ character Fat Tony, questioned “the most ridiculous place” that someone has asked her to do the Bart voice. Nancy then recalled being recognized for her voice while on a flight to London by a flight attendant. “She was like, ‘Sorry to interrupt you, Ms.Cartwright, but just wondering, are you the voice of Bart Simpson?’ I’m like, ‘Yes, I am,'” the actress recalled. “She goes, ‘Okay, both of our pilots are huge, huge fans, would there be any way if we could get you to come up into the cockpit and announce that we’re heading in Heathrow?’ “

Cartwright told the flight attendant that she would be “glad to do that.” “So we go up, and I’m like shaking their hand,” she continued. “They handed me the microphone, and I said something like [in the voice of Bart Simpson] ‘Ladies and gentlemen, this is Bart Simpson speaking. I’m the copilot here, and I just wanted to let you know we will be landing in Japan in about 15 minutes, so buckle your seatbelts.’ ”
How Nancy Cartwright became Bart Simpson’s voice
Cartwright recently revealed that she originally went in to audition for the role of Lisa on the long-running show. While speaking to People in a February 6 interview, the actress revealed that even though she went for Lisa’s role, during the audition, she found that Bart was a more interesting character. As she puts it, a 10-year-old underachiever, school-hating underachiever, and proud of it. That’s more interesting,” she thought of it. And then she auditioned for Bart’s role and got the role on the spot.
