Rajpal Yadav opens up on 10-12-year age gap, bonding with wife Radha: ‘Langoor ko hoor mil gayi’ |
Rajpal Yadav who is currently seen in ‘Bhooth Bangla’ which is running in theatres, has been in the news since the last few months for Rs 9 crore debt case on him. The actor is out on bail. His wife Radha has been with him, through thick and thin. From handling the personal side of things to influencing his everyday choices, he sees her as the pillar that has supported him throughout his journey.In a recent chat, the actor spoke about their relationship, opening up on their bond and the constant support from her over the years. Looking back at how it all started, Rajpal shared in an interview with Shubhankar Mishra, “We met in Calgary. Even today, I don’t understand how a man from Uttar Pradesh found a life partner there. But it turned out beautifully, I didn’t realise then that she would become my backbone.” Adding a touch of self-deprecating humour, he said, “My aunt used to say, ‘Langoor ko hoor mil gayi’ (a plain man got a beautiful wife), and I used to feel the same.”
For him, his marriage also reflects his larger belief in the importance of women in one’s life. “I have always spoken about ‘naari shakti’ (the power of women). From a mother to a partner, women play different roles in shaping your life. I am who I am because of their blessings, I smile because of them,” he explained.He also recalled his father-in-law’s initial reaction upon seeing him for the first time, through a still from one of his films. “The first picture of me that my father-in-law saw was a still from Jungle, hair standing, gun in hand, and he was shocked. But when he saw me in person, he realised I’m just a normal man. That’s just the character.”Rajpal added that Radha has always been straightforward, especially when it comes to his work. “There have been times when I took her to a premiere, and on the way back we ended up arguing, she would ask, ‘Do you think you should have done this film?’ She doesn’t believe in flattery. If she doesn’t like something, she says it openly. It’s actually very difficult to keep people around you happy,” he said.Their bond, he explained, rests on a foundation of deep respect and understanding. “I respect her a lot. There’s an age gap of 10–12 years between us, but our communication has always been strong. In fact, when we met, her Hindi was better than mine. She knew five languages.”Rajpal also shared that even now, his friends remain intrigued by his marriage. “A lot of my friends still ask me, ‘How did you manage this?’” he said with a laugh.At home, Radha continues to be a central figure in his everyday life. “She buys my clothes. I trust her choices—if she could choose me, she can choose anything well,” he joked. “She manages all my expenses. I’m not someone who keeps track of accounts too much.”
