Ali Fazal and Richa Chadha to reunite after ‘Fukrey’ for new situational comedy |
Ali Fazal and Richa Chadha, who charmed viewers together in the ‘Fukrey’ series, are teaming up once again for an as-yet-untitled comedy helmed by director Shashie Vermaa. Set amid the vibrant hustle of Delhi and also featuring Kumud Mishra, the project is expected to begin filming in the latter half of 2026.

According to a report by Mid-day, Fazal and Chadha stated jointly, “The film has a very organic sense of humour that comes from its characters and the world they inhabit. That’s what made it stand out for us. It’s also the first time we’re sharing the screen as an on-screen pair, which made saying yes even more exciting. We’re looking forward to bringing this story to life with Shashie Vermaa, whose vision and writing give the film a distinct voice.“

Shashie Vermaa characterized the project as “a situational comedy carrying a strong social message,” noting that the city of Delhi plays a central role in the narrative, with Ali and Richa portraying a modest, middle-class couple.

Directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, ‘Fukrey Returns’ was produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani under the Excel Entertainment banner. The film’s cast also includes Priya Anand, Vishakha Singh and Pankaj Tripathi. It hit theatres on December 15, 2017.
